Our gift store, Domestic Bliss will be closing it's doors this weekend.
Please join us for the DOMESTIC BLISS (front store facing Main Street ONLY)
We will be having a TWO DAY CLEARANCE SALE FRIDAY, FEB 17th & SATURDAY, FEB 18th from 8am-5pm

FOUND will continue with our MONTHLY SALES, EVENTS & design business.
*We are available for appointments Tuesday- Friday. Our monthly events will continue to take place one Friday and Saturday each month.

WHY ARE WE CLOSING DOMESTIC BLISS?

It is a tough decision that needed to be made. We kept Domestic Bliss open for our loyal followers for as long as we could. Running the stores takes a lot of time, resources and energy and it just needs to be placed elsewhere right now. We are so happy that our AMAZING Katie and all of our sweet friends and family who help with our shops will still be working along side us at FOUND and in our new endeavor.

We know that many of you have been with us since the beginning of Domestic Bliss in 1999. We are so grateful for your business and continued support.

We are thrilled that our monthly events at FOUND have been so successful & that our design business continues to thrive and keep us very busy. We are blessed to have a great new opportunity
ahead of us that is scheduled to launch this Spring- stay tuned...

Many of you know our sweet friend Dorie and her house is on the tour again- (a MUST see!) She also organized a fun little street market for the day of the tour where you can shop antiques, crafts, jewelry and fun flea market finds (*you might see some familiar faces at this market..like our very own Miss Katie!)

We have some other dear friends who are participating this year too-so we are looking forward to a very fun tour this year!

We are so blessed with the most wonderful clients... One we would like to share is Ms. Jennifer- she lovingly decorates her First grade class in the most blissful fashion! We had to share these fun pictures from her classroom.. You can tell that she really puts her heart and soul into her teaching. She makes these kids feel special everyday by surrounding them with happy, meaningful messages & adorable design! Ms. Jennifer purchased the orange lockers, the fun vintage blue rolling cart, cute inspirational signs and many other goodies you don't see her in these photos. I want to go back to school in her classroom! DARLING!

...seriously thinking about planning a shopping trip (or maybe moving to Paris- ha, I wish!) soon. My daughter is getting ready to head to Paris and Belgium with her school study abroad program the end of this month and I have a friend who is living in Paris for a whole month~ I am so excited for them but have to admit I am a little green with envy.

'Smitten' with the Smitten Kitchen!

Readers, I don't know if there's just a little extra love in the air in this season of valentines.......but I'm smitten! Have the rest of you discovered the cooking blog The Smitten Kitchen yet? The combination of sassy writing, gorgeous photography, and can't-fail recipes are just.......well, what are you waiting for?? Take a look at these desserts! :)

Smitten Kitchen's Strawberry Chiffon Shortcake, which I can just imagine serving at a fun & casual Valentine brunch! Maybe even while wearing this brand-new red embroidered JWLA number that I'm still dreaming of......

New Year's Resolution 2011: Out With the Old......

I don't know about you, readers, but I started out the New Year with a major wardrobe purge. After all, nothing feels better than a fresh slate, right? Everything I pulled out from the closet that hadn't seen the light of day in a year (or, for the truly austere, in a season or two) went into a pile destined for others. Do the rest of you do this? It's not only a feel-good idea (leftover clothes can be donated to charity-based thrift stores or women's shelters), I think it's absolutely essential to maintaining a fresh, vibrant wardrobe! Out with the old! If you've got designer threads or timeless pieces that still have plenty of life in them but are occupying valuable real estate in a too-small closet, try a local consignment store that specializes in designer or vintage treasures......or better yet, throw a clothing swap party (try these party tips on how to organize one of your own, what to serve, etc, courtesy of Real Simple magazine) and invite all your friends out for fun & 'gently used' fashion!

And then, what oh what to do with all that free space in your closet? You know we've got a few ideas for you at Domestic Bliss...........

Wrapping up the holiday season....

So, here we are, five days from Christmas! Right about now we're guessing a lot of you are up to your elbows in wrapping paper, finishing up the wrapping on family presents, hostess gifts, that one last package for the work gift exchange......and so on.

But what happens when you come to the ends of those beautiful rolls of paper and you're left with a pile of leftover pieces too small to wrap anything?

Throw them away? No!

Create a gorgeous and couldn't-be-easier craft project with them: Paper chain garlands!

Here's some inspiration......

Wouldn't these be gorgeous draped across a mantelpiece or front doorway? You can even pile them loosely in a bowl as a charming centerpiece during the big Christmas dinner....

Easy Wrapping Paper Chain Instructions:

1. Just cut your leftover paper into a pile of strips approximately 2" x 6" each (you could even do this with last year's Christmas cards--the more variety, the prettier your chain will be!).

2. Fold one over into a circle and stick ends together with a glue stick or small piece of double-sided tape. Thread the next strip through this first link, and glue or tape it just like you did with the first.

3. Keep going until the chain is as long as you like--two feet or twenty feet!
